BlackChili – it’s all about the mix
With Continental’s unique tread compound, manufactured exclusively in Germany, they revolutionized the cycling scene. Thanks to the legendary BlackChili Compound, Continental was able to definitively answer the age-old question of grip versus rolling resistance.

Regular test wins demonstrate the measurable and noticeable benefits for drivers, both in the lab and on the road. State-of-the-art polymers, along with specially developed carbon black particles and fillers, guarantee unparalleled performance.

Vectran – the benchmark in puncture protection
Vectran™ is a synthetically produced high-tech fiber modeled after natural materials. Like spider silk, Vectran™ is a liquid crystal polymer (LCP). Vectran™ is spun from the molten liquid polymer Vectra and processed into a multifilament yarn. Both spider silk and Vectran™ possess enormous tensile strength at minimal weight. These are precisely the right properties for use as a puncture protection insert in Continental’s top-of-the-line tires. A Vectran™ breaker is lighter, more flexible, and offers more effective cut protection than comparable nylon breakers. The Vectran™ breaker does not affect rolling resistance.
