In this chapter, we explain the technologies that the manufacturer uses in this product.

PureGrip Compound – The outstanding compound technology
On the basis of the activated silica compound, Continental worked purposefully towards a compound technology in the performance segment. The result Continental’s Korbach research and development department produced a new compound technology with outstanding grip and cross-country properties after intensive development work. The new rubber compound with the self-explanatory name “PureGrip” comes after the BlackChili compound and is used in performance products in the race and mountain bike segments. Here it ensures long-lasting traction and high mileage for Continental tires, which are manufactured exclusively in the production facility in Hefei (Asia).

PolyX Breaker – Cut and stab resistant
With the PolyX Breaker®, Continental brings its passenger car expertise to the bicycle tire segment: Polyester has been used successfully in car tires for years and has proven its worth many times over. The extremely durable polyester fiber is woven tightly in a cross-hatch pattern. This results in a very high fabric density, making the breaker not only resistant to foreign objects but also particularly puncture-resistant. The PolyX Breaker® does not negatively affect rolling resistance.

Plus Breaker – Maximum Safety
A puncture protection layer made of highly elastic special rubber is used between the tread and the casing. Virtually impervious, this puncture protection successfully resists foreign objects of all kinds. Even a thumbtack cannot penetrate it. The casing is reliably protected from damage. Tires with Plus Breaker are now found in almost every segment: whether road bike, MTB, or city/trekking, the Plus Breaker guarantees maximum safety without negatively affecting the tire’s handling characteristics. The consistency of the breaker has been adjusted so that the tire does not feel spongy when cornering. The Plus Breaker is pure puncture protection. Please observe the tire pressure guidelines!

E50 – E-bike compatible
For e-bike tires, Continental draws on over 100 years of experience with moped and motorcycle tires. All city/trekking tires meet at least the standard for speeds up to 25 km/h. Tires marked E50 are also approved for S-Pedelecs. Their high-quality construction provides excellent puncture protection, low rolling resistance, and protection against premature wear caused by the additional drive power.
